Amsterdam is very friendly and English is widely spoken. The city has everything for both genders, all ages and all cultures. There is the decadent rich culture and history of the past and there is also the abundant nightlife scene for the younger generation.

For the tourist there are certain sites that are a must. Some of these include:

There are many museums in Amsterdam and most are located in the Museum Square in the southern part of the city. The Rijksmuseum contains the largest collection of classical Dutch art- Rembrandt’s entire art collection can be viewed at this museum. The Van Gogh and the Stedelijk are also two must see museums- the former depicts paintings of the renowned painter, Van Gogh himself and the latter deals with modern art.

Performing Arts
For those into performing arts, Amsterdam has a world class orchestra. The Concertgebebouw is considered to be a concert hall with the best acoustics in the world. For the younger tourists who may not be as fond of art work and concert halls, there is the night life. Amsterdam had a vibrant and diverse night life, for which it is more famous than even its museums. There are 100s of cafes all around Amsterdam. Besides coffee, most for these cafés also serve local beers and wines. Even though Amsterdam has many ethnic foods, many of the restaurants also serve the local Dutch fare. For those who want to party all night, a walk to the Leidselplein or Rembrandtplein area is worth it. There are many trendy discos in this area that stay open until all hours.
